I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with my female shorthair I bought from you. She's fifteen weeks old now and I was out jogging around our section when my 2 1/2 year old shorthair ran into a patch of CRP on the side of a creek by the road. She locked into a beautiful point, and when Annabeth, the dog we got from you, caught up to her she locked into a point behind Lucy about ten yards. I walk past her and she was locked in a point so hard she was shaking with excitement. I got up to Lucy and said, "Are you on one girl?" When I talked it spooked the rooster pheasant and he came up screaming. I turned to see Anna watch the rooster flying off. She looked at me and ran over to me jumping around in circles. I reached down and petted her and she immediately stuck her nose to the ground and started searching for a new scent. She honored Lucy at 14 months old. I know she's going to be a great dog! Thanks a lot for the great dog!

Craig, Elizabeth, and Daniel,

Just wanted to take a minute to say Thank You for Gabby.  She is very fun to work with and sharp.  Since I have taken her home we have a real good start on basic commands such as come, sit, and whoa.....pretty much mastered (also house broke within two weeks).  Now to the important part.......hunting.  First of all we had some fun with 10 pen raised quail I got.  She worked them great and I felt we took real good steps forward.  I had the opportunity to go South Dakota late October with some friends to hunt some prime ground, no released birds, fair chance.  Was there for 3 days and everyday she got better. At 8 months old, it's like the light bulb gets brighter everyday.  Photo attached!  We have even bagged a couple birds here in Iowa the last couple weekends.  She trailed a rooster 40 yards before she pointed and I got him up, then pointed 2 hens within the next 40.  Everyday I have off from work we will be in the field this fall!
To close, thank you again for a very sharp and enthusiastic pup.  I will keep you up to date.

Craig thought I would share some pictures of Cash with You. We picked Cash up Last year the day after Thanksgiving from you. Here in Omaha this weekend Scheels had a Super Retriever Series competition. Cash loves the water so I entered him in the competition. He finished 17th out of 40 dogs. Hes not a year old yet and was the smallest dog there but that didnt stop him. He had probably jumped 20 times before his two qualifying jumps so he was a little tired but he still jumped over 15ft both times. I Cant wait to see what he will do in his first bird season this fall.
Thanks Shannon Kelly

Hi Craig, thought I would send you an update on Muddy Creek Heart Stopper AKA Cody. He has been in 3 AKC Conformation Shows and did pretty good with 2 first places & 2 reserve winners in 6-9 month puppy class and a second class placement. He loves the attention and shows pretty well. We are still doing our field training lessons and he is such a natural at it, his desire to find and point birds is so strong. Our trainer is very excited to go out on a hunt with him when he is ready ! I attached a couple of photos of Cody, thank you again for a great dog !

Myself and my son picked up my pup today after four months of training with Craig and Daniel. Watched her hunt like crazy, point, hold point  and retrieve. My son was so impressed his English pointer is soon to be heading to Muddy Creek Kennels. Craig, Daniel, and Elizabeth thank you beyond what words can express for helping me find my pup and training her. You made my search for the right hunting partner a real joy.

Hello Craig and Family
I just wanted to thank you guys for doing such a good job on picking and training Loomis, he's been an absolute pheasant machine this year! The other thing that I've been so impressed with is the calmness of the dog around the house, I've been around good shorthairs but they can't sit still at home, not the case here, he is unbelievably calm around the house. Thanks again!

Louisiana birds!
First hunt for Ellie, and Hank. They performed fantastic! Pointed and retrieved 78 quail, chucker, and pheasants. They hunted close, held steady to wing, and backed each other! I could not be happier! Looking forward to making a hunt with you and Daniel.

JACK
Hi Craig,
Just wanted to let you know how Jack is doing. I picked him up in Honolulu and got thru Quarantine and back to our Island with no hitches. I hunted him the following Saturday and every Saturday and Holiday thru Jan 20th. I shot about 12 birds in 10 trips over him and he only lost a couple cripples, he found several hard to find cripples. I hunt very heavy cover especially late season when the birds are smart and run a lot. I had 12 solid points each of the last 2 days I hunted. By the end of next season I have no doubt he will be doing really well. He has worked out good around the house with my other dogs and company. Very good temperament and rarely barks.
Tyrell called me last week who you shipped 2 dogs to some time ago. He is on the same Island as I, which I did not realize when I talked to you before. I will be getting together with him before next hunting season.
Thanks Very much,

BOODREAUX
Craig,
I just wanted to check in to say how much me and my family are enjoying our dog. This winter was our
second year hunting Woodcock with Boodreaux. The
attached pic was from over the Xmas holiday. Our hunting partner was very impressed when I knocked down a Woodcock over a slough and Boo jumped in and made a water retrieve.
Thanks again.

Hi Craig!
Here are just a few pictures of Lincoln in Wisconsin, with a couple of ruffled grouse! The picture of him pointing the birds has a cool endinLINCOLNg to the story. While hunting and shooting these birds, Lincoln findi
ng and retrieving them, I wanted a quick picture of him and just as I snapped the picture he raised and pointed as seen in the picture. He either heard or smelled, (maybe both), that there was another bird approximately 50+ yards away!!  Well, we got that third grouse too!
REMARKABLE NOSE AND DRIVE! Absolutely no quit in him! At times he works a little fast and has to be slowed a bit, though we're improving on that. He just turned 2 years old and is holding a lean and muscular 62 lbs, Being the grandson of Alibi and son of Jughead, he's making em' both proud as hunting in the north woods is extremely challenging over corn rows and wheat fields.

Take care and hope to make a visit to see you all this year sometime. Say "Hi" to Elizabeth for us!

Hey guys. Thought I would drop you a note about the pup I got from you in 2012. She wasn’t old enough to do a lot with that fall (2012) but we started. Spent all this summer letting her grow up, working on yard training and working pigeons. Lately I’ve been taking her
KARLIto a preserve for bird work on quail. Last weekend my wife and I spent most of the day working with her. We released 15 quail in two “batches”. After successfully pointing and killing 4 birds I dropped the checkcord and let her work independently. I’m using the whistle and e-collar for control but it’s needed less and less. Weather conditions were perfect, cold and still. She found, pointed (average 10-30 feet) and held every single bird for me to walk up. My wife then controlled her with the checkcord while I flushed and shot the bird. We let her pick up 4-5 of them. She has a soft mouth, too. I was extremely pleased that she would calm right down and go on hunting afterwards. We ended up killing 12 out of the 15. I’m having a ball working with her. Karli is the most energetic dog I’ve ever owned but a real sweetheart as a pet, too. We had her spayed after the first heat cycle because we have no intention of ever breeding for puppies. She turned out to be a small dog, about 42 lbs. at the vet’s office, perfect for my preference. I’ve attached a picture of her for you to enjoy. Hope you’re all doing well.

RUBY

Ruby did great!
Just a report on Ruby's first hunt. She did great! We were at Pheasant Run Ranch out in Kansas and we hunted in snow. The birds held well and Ruby pointed several times and held her points perfect. I couldn't have been happier with how she did on her first time hunting. She figured it out in a hurry! Thanks again for a nice pup (JugheadxRuby) and I appreciate the training she got from Muddy Creek Kennel. You
 know your dogs!

Craig,
I purchased a dog a few months back from you that you called “killer” and I named “Sadie”. She is an outstanding dog for only 2 years old. Still working with her on the retrieve but she has solid points and an outstanding nose. I had very high expectations as I have been a avid bird hunter for a number of years and this isn’t the first dog that I have owned. She exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to see what she will be like in the coming years.
Thank you Craig and Muddy Creek Kennels for a great dog.

Craig, I wanted to let you know that Lilly is everything that we could ask for at this point in time. In the 14 days since we picked her up from your kennel she has hunted quail and pheasants. Her first hunt on pheasant was impressive; the big birds did not intimidate her even a little bit. She responds well to the whistle and the e-collar is there mostly for decoration. She is already learning her manners in the house and she has already become a part of our family. I am sending several prospective dog buyers your way; from what I have seen, it would be hard to do better than buying from Muddy Creek.

A big "ALOHA" to the Burns Ohana (family)!! I am very pleased with Jasper and it being only half way thru our bird hunting season, he's turning out to be a well rounded "BIRD DOG". Thanks for your help with the entire process of choosing a pup, going thru the vet checks, quarantines and all the other headaches of getting him here to me in the islands! I get compliments from everyone with him, around town as well as in the field. Here we hunt public lands and it's a small hunting community compared to the mainland and when the guys see Jasper in the field and how he covers ground methodically, responds to the commands, rigid intense point, awesome nose they all cant help but to ask where I got him. Then when they find out he's only a 1yr. old they flip out !! Much "Mahalo" (thank you) -Tyrel, all the way from HAWAII

FRITZ

Hey Muddy Creek Craig, Fritz is turning out to be a fine dog. He is very smart. He responds well to a number one on the tri tronics collar when turn him loose in a field. He has an easy going temperament and likes people like you said. He has bonded well with me and he will make a fine hunting companion. I really enjoy him. He is a nice dog and was worth the trip and the money. Take care and use me for a reference anytime.

Craig, This will be the fourth year year for Peaches. I have trained a number of Dogs but I'm to old for that now and I aquired Peaches already finished. By far she is the best dog I've ever owned. She has had over two hundred birds shot over her. When you said you had a nice Dog for me you were not kidding. Perfect in the house. Everyone loves her. As you said she is a very nice Dog. Thanks A Million! Use me In your references. Im so happy with her and can't say enough. THANKS!

Craig, you did it again! I have another great GSP. Took Gauge out for the 1st time, he pointed/held 9 birds, we got 7. He retrieved to hand. Just awesome, especially for his 1st time out, ever. He hunts close, like I like them, and what is really impressive, no shock collar. He knows and obeys all his commands, whoa, heal, easy, find the bird. This dog is smart!!! After my 1st GSP you trained for me I was expecting something less for this dog, "BO" was awesome too but not this good this early. So we are happy, happy, happy. Thank you again!!

In Sept 2002 I purchased Prairie Kings Lil' Rusty Kate from you. She is 12 plus and going strong. Just finished a great pheasant hunt in SD. I hope she goes on and on but I am starting to think of another dog and am impressed with her blood line. I will be looking for another started dog when the time comes. Lil' Kate is smaller still 37 lbs. Do you have any dogs from her blood line? What are you charging for a started dog these days?

Craig,
I purchased "Billy" from you around a year ago. He is doing well. Strong desire, very good nose and is high on both ends. I force broke "Billy" to retrieve through the summer and he is a retrieving machine. He retrieves downed birds with a passion and head held high.He has turned out to be a very stylish dog.

Craig,
Bird season started a week ago yesterday here in Connecticut and I have had "Maggie" out three times so far. I am writing to let you know that she has by far surpassed my expectations and has gotten better each trip. She is quite a hunter and can only get better.  'Maggie" is already part of the family and as I have said, she is a marvelous hunting companion. Feel free to use me for reference anytime. I am very pleased with 'Maggie" and thank you for the training effort that you have put into her.
My best to you and yours.

Craig I just wanted to let you know that we have been shooting a lot of pheasant and quail with "Ace". He is doing a good job... works hard, covers the ground well, points with style, retrieves to hand and works well with other dogs. You did a good job with him and I believe I have a good one. Thanks for all of your work.

Hi, this is Eileen Ramus with Tri-County Pheasant Hunting Preserve. What a great dog "Pete" is!!! It amazed me how he picked right up on the scent of his very first pheasant. He ran past the bird, circled back and went right on point. We are very pleased with him.

Craig, I better let you know how "Cotton" is doing. She is consistent, covers the ground well and is well mannered in the field (We are still working on in the house), responds to a whistle well, changes directions well, retrieves better than most labs, points with a lot of intensity- will hold until I get there, already relocates in cooperation with a short whistle. She will take advantage if she is without a collar and ranges farther than I like so I now use it all the time. She has retrieved several times on doubles and has stuck with it. What else can I say after having spent several trips out with her. She has filled out and looks like a million bucks.

Craig, I can't say how pleased I am with "Mikki". Talk about a nice dog!!! I never imagined that I would be so happy. She worked great in Iowa. Held point and when she got to far out a simple whistle and she would come right in. She is pretty much a plopper in the house. I really enjoyed meeting all of you and hope to return another time for another visit. After ten years of hunting in Iowa I am going to do something different next year. Kansas, Oklahoma and maybe Montana.
Have a nice Thanksgiving and say hi to Elizabeth and Daniel.

Craig I am guiding on a preserve here in Connecticut and "Jake" is doing a super job. He got a ten day workout in South Dakota, several hundred points and we shot fifty roosters. Craig she is doing well and we named her "Dusty". I had her put through rattlesnake avoidance training and have Quail hunted with her two days. She found and pointed five coveys and numerous singles. I killed eight Scaled Quail and two Gambles over her points and she retrieved them all. She hunts close in tight cover with a lot of cactus and thornbush but ranges well when in open grass cover. She whoas well on command, comes in on a whistle. She points with style and retrieves quail very well. Thank you again for a very nice gun dog.

Hello Craig,
It has been three years since I got my dog from you and I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with him. He is a natural easy going bird dog. I have owned multiple GSP. I am very particular about my bird dogs and he exceeds my expectations and is the easiest dog I have ever trained. His extreme qualities are:
Style on point (holds point until flush even if I can't see him and I am calling him)
Backs on sight.
Retrieves even from water and hunts dead very good.
Exceptional nose( on Game Farm birds he winds birds along ways. (20,30 even 40 yards away)
Gets along fine with other dogs.
Loads in the truck
Great with people
Quiet and clean in the kennel.
Hunts smart and uses the wind effectively.
Very cautious on running birds, does not like to flush them(cat stalks at a safe range in order to stay within the sent cone.)

Hi Craig thought I would let you know what I think of the dog we got from you. We named her "HEIDI" and she has a permanent home!!! She does everything I could ask of her. I'm not saying that I am an expert trainer, she just does it pretty much natural and all day long.We wound up purchasing two other females and a male from different breeders but they don't hold a candle to "HEIDI". I thought you might like to know how pleased I am. We're happy."

Craig I just wanted to check in and let you know how happy we are with the puppy ( Apache x Fancy litter) we bought last year. He has been a joy to train and hunt with this season. He received his NA prize II 108 points ( NAVHDA). He received perfect scores on water work and field work but had a mis Q in tracking that held him back from his 112 point prize 1. He really turned on this season and had many limits shot over him from Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Craig,An update on the pup I bought last year; I hunted him with " Huck" in Dec. and Jan. hunting Gamble's Quail. On the last day of season I tried him by himself and he hunted like a pro!He worked running birds until they stopped/held and pointed like an old dog. One Quail we knocked down ran and he trailed it 75 yards through brush. He is going to be a great dog.

Craig,I wanted to give you folks an update on "Fritz" (formally "Hero"- MC Skeet x MC Tallgrass Annie). Last weekend we participated in a NAVDA natural ability test and"Fritz" scored 98 for prize 3. I was very pleased as he had never been in the water nor been swimming prior to the test. He finally did make his retrieves but did not score well. He scored perfect in hunting and tracking skills ( with no prior training) and the judges made a point of telling me what a great dog he is and what a good nose he has. In the tracking portion he tracked and retrieved the pheasant in less than one minute. I have entered him in another test and feel confident he will get his prize 1 as swimming was his only problem aera. I have had him in swimming several times now and he is swimming and retrieving well and now loves it.

"...For the record, I have hunted with Craig Burns on several occasions. We always use Craig's dogs. His dogs are the hardest working dogs I have ever hunted with. It is a real treat to watch them work. Craig's dogs mind him exceptionally well. Craig is a good, safe hunter and a pleasure to hunt with. He treats his dogs the same way I would treat mine and has a good reputation as a trainer. One suggestion, should you hunt with him, don't let him carry a gun. Using a shotgun he is the quickest and most accurate shot I have ever hunted with."

"Patience" is that once in a lifetime dog that I have been searching for all of these years. The intelligence you talk about in your breeding is 100% correct, when you say you you breed for intelligence you mean it. Today I took a video camera. To my great surprise after seeing the film my 16 year old daughter Amanda said, "Dad the next time you and Patience go hunting I think I would like to go."I can't thank you and your wife enough for all the great fun. Feel free to use me for a reference anytime!

"...we got "Huck" four years ago and I didn't know anything about training a bird dog.I like to tell people I hunt with that "Huck" trained me.He is a natural hunter, pointer and retriever. He has turned out to be a very good dog and I have been asked to price him on more than one occasion. He has provided us many pleasurable hunts and more birds than I can count! Pheasant and Sharptail in South Dakota. Gambels quail here in Arizona.
Thanks Craig for breeding these fine dogs and providing all the helpful training tips. You can feel free to use me for a reference anytime."

Hey Craig, Elizabeth and Daniel. Just wanted to let you know "Bronco" is a big ol teddy bear around the house just like you said he would be,but when you turn him loose in the field he is one lean mean hunting machine!Oct.1 was our opener." Bronco" pointed and retrieved to hand 24 pheasants in four days. The only problem we have is getting him to come home. This boy does not want to quit.Craig we are very pleased with him and want to get another one of him, only in the female version. Can you do that for us? You really know your dogs. Our first dog "Cody" was great but "Bronco" is the icing on the cake! Feel free to use us for reference anytime.

Craig, just thought you should know...Ziggy and I went Pheasant hunting last weekend at a preserve. I took my three year old female, who is also a great bird dog. Those two showed up the guides dogs completely. Ziggy did great. He is also one heck of a retriever! This hunt club uses Labs to retrieve with but ol " Zig Man"beat them to the punch every time. I bred him to a friends Shorthair and the pups are going to be hunters as well.Season starts here in two weeks so he will get his fill. Thanks for selling him to me.
My wife is even letting him come in the house... that is rare.

Hello, You may not remember but you trained two of my Shorthairs, Cowboy and Ruger, Oct-Dec '07. I just wanted to let you know they have been doing an outstanding job. This year was their second full year and a photographer who hunts with us has taken some nice pictures that can be viewed at kentsparkman.com. Thank you very much for the training and the money was well spent.

Hello Burns Family,
We just wanted to drop you a note and

happy customers who got their German Shorthaied Pointer from Muddy Creek Kennel.

Craig I just wanted to let you know that we have been shooting a lot of pheasant and quail with "Ace".

Hello Burns Family,
We just wanted

;
JACK
Hi Craig,
Just wanted to let you know how Jack is doing.

Craig I just wanted to let you know that we have been shooting a lot of pheasant and quail with "Ace".

Feel free to use us for reference anytime.

...just wanted to say thanks again for the wonderful bird dog we have!We bought our "Belle"from you Sept. of 2001.She brings much joy to our life and I always recommend your Kennel to folks asking for pups or training info. We have a dog biscuit bakery... "The Pampered Pointer Bakery". Belle is a wonderful inspiration as well as taste tester! Thanks again.
